Regional housing initiatives provide new homes in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina

Regional housing initiatives in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are providing new homes to families through government and international support programs.

In Bačka Palanka, Serbia, seven new non-refundable grants totaling over 10 million dinars were awarded for the purchase of rural households. This initiative, supported by the Ministry for Rural Care, has enabled 218 young individuals and couples to secure housing in rural areas over the last five years. Recipients are required to maintain ownership of the property for at least 10 years without selling or renting it out.

In Živinice, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 24 families received keys to new residential units completed under the CEB II project. This project aims to transition families from collective or alternative accommodations into permanent homes. Within the Tuzla Canton, the CEB II project involves 22 sub-projects across 11 municipalities, with 647 of the planned 690 housing units already completed. Future phases of social housing support in the region are being prepared in cooperation with the European Investment Bank.
