Global initiatives launched to support aging populations and elderly rights

Various municipalities and organizations across Spain, Argentina, and Uruguay are launching initiatives to mark the International Day of Older Persons and promote support for the aging population.

In Spain, Huelva has renewed its agreement with AFA Huelva to fund Alzheimer's prevention and support services. Almería is hosting a gala and a congress to combat ageism, while Mos is offering digital literacy training for seniors. In Argentina, Comodoro Rivadavia conducted training for over 80 caregivers to improve the autonomy of those living with dementia.

In Uruguay, the municipality of Florida is organizing a seminar to discuss the local challenges of a growing elderly population, focusing on social integration and health. Similarly, General Pico has announced a month of activities titled ‘Mes Plateado’ to promote active and inclusive aging through workshops and recreational events.
