Regional literary initiatives promote reading and cultural heritage
Various cultural and literary initiatives are being held across the region to promote reading and heritage. In Pleternica, Croatia, the Croatian Library and Reading Room concluded its Knjignik summer program. The event, funded by the Ministry of Culture and Media, featured children's theater performances and workshops designed to teach the Glagolitic script to preserve local cultural heritage.
In Croatia, the Poezija to go project, founded by Sonja Zubović, continues its mission to encourage poetry reading among youth. The project, which has been active since 2015, is scheduled to hold its 28th forum on September 7, 2026, featuring several prominent poets and musicians.
Additionally, in Montenegro, writer Nataša Sardžoska led the 'Bajka o duhu' literary workshop at the House of Risto Ratković. The workshop aimed to encourage young people to engage with books and creative writing as a way to develop imagination and cognitive skills away from digital distractions.
