Regional memorials held for victims of Balkan conflicts

Commemorative events were held in Gradiška and Četekovac to honor victims of conflicts in the Balkans.

In Gradiška, a memorial academy titled “Krvavi put progona – narod koji nije pokleknuo” marked 31 years since the exodus of Serbs from Donji Vakuf and crimes against civilians in Bravnice. The event included a documentary film about Aleksandar Kišin, a volunteer who died in Kosovo in 1999. Attendees included Nenad Stevandić, President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, and local officials. The ceremony focused on remembering those who were forced to leave their homes.

In Četekovac, Croatia, the “Život za domovinu – jake snage MUP-a” memorial was organized by HVIDRA of Virovitica-Podravina County. The event honored police officers Josip Potočnik, Duško Košorog, and Zvonko Čubelić, who died during the early stages of the Homeland War in 1991. The commemoration included the laying of lanterns at the local cemetery and speeches from veterans and clergy regarding the defense of the region.
