Regional MTQ Quranic competitions scheduled in Serang and Padang

Various cities in Indonesia are preparing to host Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) competitions in October 2026.

In Serang, the LPTQ is organizing the event at the Gedung Gelanggang Remaja in the Maulana Yusuf Stadium area. The competition will feature nine branches, including tilawah, qiraat, and Syarhil Qur’an. Notably, participants for Syarhil Qur’an and Fahmil Qur’an will represent institutions such as high schools rather than sub-districts. The event aims to foster Al-Quran scholarship and identify talented individuals for future competitions.

In Padang, the 42nd National MTQ for the city is scheduled from October 10 to 14, 2026. Approximately 663 participants from 11 sub-districts are registered to compete in 13 branches. The event serves as a selection process for the West Sumatra provincial MTQ in 2027. The competition includes a total prize pool of Rp599 million and is intended to support the “Smart Surau” program to strengthen local religious education.
