Regional sports complexes in Australia and Ireland receive facility upgrade funding

Local governments in Australia and Ireland have announced funding for significant upgrades to regional sports complexes to improve community facilities and accessibility.

In Kiama, Australia, the NSW Government has allocated $926,316 to upgrade LED lighting at the Kiama Sports Complex. This investment addresses aging infrastructure and aims to support various sporting clubs, including cricket, soccer, and netball, while accommodating rising participation in female sports. The project is part of a broader masterplan for the precinct that requires further state and federal support.

In Kilrush, Ireland, Clare County Council is progressing €241,000 in upgrade works at the Kilrush Sports Complex with support from Sport Ireland. The project includes a €145,000 refurbishment of dressing rooms and shower facilities, as well as a €96,000 installation of lighting for the cross-country and walking track. These improvements are intended to provide year-round access to the tracks and modernize amenities for local schools, clubs, and community groups.
