Regional transport developments in Buenos Aires and Magallanes
In Argentina, General Alvarado Mayor Sebastián Ianantuony participated in the 6th regional meeting in Mar del Plata to discuss infrastructure for the Buenos Aires Province. A key focus of the discussion was the strategic recovery of railway services to create a multimodal system for cargo and passengers. The proposed plan aims to integrate the localities of Tandil, Mar del Plata, Miramar, Lobería, and Quequén to boost regional production and development.
In Chile, the Magallanes Region has launched a new public transport service in Puerto Natales. The service utilizes nine Euro 6 diesel buses equipped with Wi-Fi, climate control, and universal accessibility. The project is supported by a central government subsidy of 750 million pesos. Additionally, authorities have announced plans for a transition toward electromobility in Punta Arenas, with a goal to implement a 100% electric bus system by late 2028 supported by a new electroterminal.
