RegioSpider railcars to modernize regional services in Mělník

České dráhy is introducing modernized RegioSpider railcars to the Mělník region to replace older motor coaches. The first five of the planned 21 units have arrived in Nymburk, and driver training has already commenced.

The new units are scheduled to appear on regional lines throughout the autumn, with regular service on some lines planned to start in September. Affected routes include the S23 line between Neratovice and Čelákovice, as well as the S30 and S35 lines running from Všetaty through Mladá Boleslav to Turnov.

According to Jiří Ješeta, Deputy General Manager for Passenger Transport at České dráhy, these modernized vehicles offer improved comfort compared to the older Regionov or series 810 units they are replacing. Key upgrades include air conditioning, a more comfortable suspension system, and improved accessibility, with approximately 65 percent of the floor area being low-floor to assist seniors, wheelchair users, and passengers with strollers. The units have a maximum speed of 120 km/h and a seating capacity of approximately 70 people.
