Regulatory authorities issue fines in Romania and Moldova

Regulatory authorities in Romania and Moldova have conducted significant enforcement actions. In Romania, the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) issued fines exceeding 3.2 million lei following inspections conducted between August 17 and 21, 2026. The inspections targeted the food sector, public catering, and a logistics center in Bucharest. Findings included the sale of dangerous toys—such as slime and lasers—notified via the European Safety Gate, as well as products lacking mandatory safety markings or Romanian language information. In the food sector, inspectors identified poor maintenance, improper storage temperatures for meat and sauces, expired products, and rusted or unhygienic equipment.

In Moldova, the National Commission for Financial Markets (CNPF) identified violations regarding total credit value limits in 973 contracts following a thematic inspection of OCN ‘EASY CREDIT’ SRL. The audit reviewed 309,609 credit contracts concluded between January 1, 2024, and May 11, 2026.
