Rei Pelé Stadium faces structural risks and partial closures in Alagoas
The Attorney General's Office of Alagoas (PGE-AL) has issued a technical alert regarding structural compromises at the Rei Pelé Stadium, also known as 'Trapichão', in Maceió. Based on a report by the High Tech-Progetto Consortium, the PGE recommended the immediate preventive closure of access ramps 2 and 3 due to the risk of partial collapse of the upper slabs.
In addition to the ramps, the recommendation includes the emergency shoring of slabs and the evacuation of specific lodging areas (29, 31, and 36) in Sector 5. Further urgent repairs are required in Sector 4 and reinforcement work is needed for the slab in the 'ferradura' area of Sector 2.
The State Secretariat of Sport, Leisure, and Youth (Selaj) and the State Secretariat of Infrastructure (Seinfra) confirmed they are complying with the PGE's guidance. Access to the high-risk areas has been restricted, and emergency shoring services are being implemented. Authorities are currently coordinating with the Alagoas Football Federation and local clubs to adjust the schedule of upcoming matches to ensure spectator safety.
