Relationship psychology: Understanding ‘quiet quitting' in partners
Psychologists are highlighting a phenomenon known as ‘quiet quitting’ within romantic relationships. Originally a workplace term, it describes a situation where an individual remains physically present but ceases to invest emotionally or put in effort.
According to psychologist Sabrina Romanoff (PsyD), this state involves a partner merely performing routine actions without genuine interest or energy. Key indicators of this emotional withdrawal include a lack of effort in planning dates, superficial communication, avoiding quality time together, prioritizing other activities over the partner, avoiding discussions about the future, and increased irritability.
