Reliance and Rolls-Royce partner for India’s AMCA jet engine
Reliance Industries and Rolls-Royce have signed a statement of intent to collaborate on the design, development, and manufacturing of an indigenous combat engine for India’s Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme. The partnership aims to establish a dedicated Aerospace Gas Turbine Complex in India, which is intended to serve as a center of excellence for power and propulsion technology.
The proposed facility would cover the full lifecycle of engine production, including design, testing, manufacturing, and long-term maintenance and support. This initiative aligns with India’s “Atmanirbhar Bharat” policy, which seeks to increase domestic manufacturing and technological self-reliance in critical defense sectors.
Anant Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Industries, stated that developing critical technologies within India is essential for the country’s strategic autonomy. The collaboration combines Rolls-Royce’s expertise in gas turbine propulsion with Reliance’s industrial scale and manufacturing capabilities.
