As of August 2026, Rolls-Royce has submitted a significant bid for the AMCA engine, proposing the co-development of a new engine with over 120 kilonewtons of thrust. The offer includes a full transfer of technology and intellectual property rights. Notably, Rolls-Royce has emphasized that its proposed engine would be “free of third-party components” to mitigate the risk of future sanctions. India continues to evaluate proposals, including one from France’s Safran. The deadline for vendors to submit bids for the broader AMCA project has been extended to October 30, with bids scheduled to open on October 31.
