Religious celebrations for Saint Fanourios scheduled in Chania and Giannouli

Religious celebrations are scheduled to honor Saint Fanourios in several locations in Greece.

In Sternes, Chania, festivities include a Great Vespers on Wednesday, August 26, at 7:30 p.m., during which pilgrims will offer 'fanouropites'. The feast day on Thursday, August 27, will feature Orthros and a festive Divine Liturgy at 7:30 a.m. at the Holy Chapel located on the main road from Sternes to Marathi.

In the Giannouli Labor Housing area, the Holy Parish Church of the Twelve Apostles will host celebrations from August 26 to August 31. The program includes a Divine Liturgy on Wednesday morning, a festive Vespers and the Exaltation of Saint Fanourios on Thursday, and a procession of the icon. Additional services will be held on Saturday, August 29, for the cutting of the head of Saint John the Baptist, and concluding with a Divine Liturgy on Sunday, August 31.
