Catholic communities prepare for missionary month and regional assemblies

Various Catholic communities across Italy and San Marino are preparing for significant religious and cultural events. October is designated as Missionary Month, marked by the 100th World Missionary Day on October 18. Pope Leo XIV has emphasized the theme ‘One in Christ, united in mission’ to encourage spiritual communion and global solidarity.

Diocesan assemblies and pastoral meetings are scheduled in several regions, including Novafeltria, Patti, and Genoa, to discuss youth involvement, leadership, and community responsibility. In the Diocese of Acireale, specific initiatives such as testimonies, rosaries, and concerts are planned to celebrate the missionary vocation. Meanwhile, the Diocese of Vicenza will hold a missionary vigil featuring international representatives from Mongolia and Argentina.

Other local events include a memorial for Don Vittorio Mencucci in Scapezzano, the 30th anniversary of an oratory in Ponte San Giovanni, and the arrival of new parish priests in Serra de' Conti and the San Josemaria Escrivá parish. In Sardinia, the Pedras et Sonus festival and the Arpe del Mondo harp festival will bring music and cultural dialogue to the region throughout early October.
