Poland sees surge in religious pilgrimages to major sanctuaries

Poland is experiencing a significant period of religious activity, marked by numerous Catholic and Orthodox pilgrimages. Numerous groups are traveling to major sanctuaries, including Jasna Góra in Częstochowa and the Orthodox Holy Mountain of Grabarka.

At Jasna Góra, various diocesan and academic groups, such as the Warsaw Metropolitan Academic Pilgrimage and the Ełk Diocese group, have arrived or are arriving to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption. To accommodate the influx of pilgrims, Archbishop Wacław Depo has granted a dispensation from the Friday meat abstinence.

In Konotopie, preparations are underway for the blessing of a massive 55-meter Mary monument, an event expected to draw thousands of visitors and impact local tourism. Meanwhile, Orthodox pilgrims are also beginning their traditional journeys to the Grabarka sanctuary for the Feast of the Transfiguration.
