REM Council rejects expanding media monitoring to include Informer TV

The Regulatory Body for Electronic Media (REM) Council has decided not to expand the list of media outlets subject to systematic monitoring during the election campaign. This decision effectively excludes the television station Informer from the current monitoring process.

Council President Stevica Smederevac stated that a majority was not reached to expand the list, noting that the issue had taken on political rather than professional connotations. Council member Miloš Garić cited the limited capacity and exhausted resources of the professional oversight service as a primary reason for not including additional stations.

However, Council members Dubravka Valić Nedeljković and Rodoljub Šabić criticized the outcome. Valić Nedeljković claimed that all eight members had initially agreed in writing to include Informer, but that four members abruptly changed their votes between 10:00 and 12:00. Šabić suggested the sudden shift in voting was due to orders from “the top,” describing the dissenting members as “followers” who abandoned their own previous proposals.
