Remco Evenepoel and Florian Lipowitz co‑lead Red Bull at 2026 Tour de France
Belgian double Olympic champion Remco Evenepoel and German rider Florian Lipowitz will serve as co‑captains for the Red Bull‑Bora‑Hansgrohe team at the 2026 Tour de France. The race opens on 3 July with a team time trial in Barcelona, and the duo’s contrasting styles have drawn attention. Evenepoel answered a press question with irritation, saying he is satisfied with himself and expects Lipowitz to feel the same, adding that they will "do our own thing in our own way." Lipowitz did not comment.
Team manager Ralph Denk endorsed the double‑leadership model, describing Evenepoel as the front‑man and Lipowitz as the "wing‑man" and stating that both riders are equal in the race. Their partnership builds on a previous collaboration at the Catalonia tour, where Evenepoel helped Lipowitz achieve a podium finish. Evenepoel, a three‑time world time‑trial champion, is among the favorites, while Lipowitz, the 2025 Tour podium finisher, is viewed as a strong contender for the overall podium.
The start list includes twelve German riders, the highest German presence in five years, and the Red Bull team hopes the dual leadership will translate into strong results throughout the 3 321‑km event that finishes in Paris on 26 July.
