2026 Tour de France heatwave, Pogacar leads
Overview
Stage 10 victory confirmed: Pogacar soloed from Aurillac to Le Lioran, expanding his lead to 3 min 36 s over Vingegaard and 32 s over Evenepoel. Isaac del Toro dropped to seventh, losing the white jersey to Juan Ayuso. Riders again highlighted inadequate hotel rooms without air‑conditioning; teams continued using portable cooling units, refrigerated mattresses and vests. Pogacar warned he narrowly avoided a crash after a stray water bottle on the road ahead of Stage 11.
Stage 11 proceeded as a 161.3 km flat sprint from Vichy to Nevers, with sprinters set to contest.
Stage 13, the longest of the race at 205.8 km from Dole to Belfort, was won by Swiss rider Mauro Schmid (Jayco AlUla), who out‑finished teammate Harold Tejada; Thomas Pidcock moved to fourth overall. Pogacar retained the yellow jersey, with Vingegaard and Evenepoel still the main challengers. The next day’s Stage 14 will feature a 155.3 km mountain route from Mulhouse to Le Markstein, including three first‑category climbs.
Safety concerns persist after the earlier journalist‑transport crash that injured eight spectators and the withdrawal of three riders for concussion.
