RemoveMacAI tool allows Mac users to delete Apple Intelligence models

An open-source command-line tool named ‘RemoveMacAI’, developed by Om Lahore, has gained popularity for allowing macOS 27 users to completely disable and remove Apple Intelligence models to reclaim storage space.

While Apple provides individual toggles for AI features, these settings do not delete the underlying large-scale models from the disk. The tool uses Apple’s own configuration profiles and asset management services to remove these files and prevent them from being automatically re-downloaded by redirecting requests to a closed local port.

Users can reclaim anywhere from 12 GB to over 30 GB of storage, depending on the system configuration. However, removing these models disables a wide range of features, including Siri, Writing Tools, Genmoji, Image Playground, ChatGPT integration, and various smart summaries in Mail and Messages. Standard dictation remains functional. The tool is designed to work on Apple silicon Macs without requiring the disabling of System Integrity Protection (SIP).
