Renato Schifani signals intent for second term as Sicilian Governor

Sicilian Governor Renato Schifani has expressed his intention to seek a second term, stating that his entire coalition supports his reelection. He emphasized his commitment to a ten-year program and noted that he intends to honor the request made by political leaders including Giorgia Meloni, Silvio Berlusconi, and Matteo Salvini to continue his administration.

Schifani highlighted the need for the center-right to focus on economic and social policies. He also addressed critical infrastructure issues, specifically regarding the maintenance of Sicilian highways, stating he will take immediate action to investigate the state of these roads to ensure citizen safety.

Reflecting on the national political landscape, Schifani compared current opposition trends to the Prodi government of 2006-2008, suggesting that heterogeneous alliances often face internal instability. He maintained that the center-right holds an advantage due to the strength of the current leadership.
