Renault adjusts production levels for R5 and Maubeuge models

Renault is adjusting its production strategies in France to navigate shifting market demands and the transition to electric vehicles. At the Maubeuge plant, the cessation of Mercedes Citan production has resulted in a nearly 15% reduction in output. To compensate for these lost volumes, the manufacturer is gradually increasing the production of the Renault 4, though the thermal Kangoo remains the facility's primary product.

In Douai, Renault is accelerating production of the electric R5 following strong sales performance. The compact electric car has seen significant success in France, with 27,000 units sold in the first eight months of 2026. To meet rising demand and reduce delivery delays, the Douai site is transitioning to a three-shift (3x8) schedule, necessitating the hiring of approximately 350 temporary workers to reinforce the night teams.
