Renault and Colombian government announce labor and economic relief measures

In Argentina, Renault and the SMATA union have agreed to implement a 'hours bank' system for approximately 1,200 workers at the Santa Isabel plant in Córdoba. This arrangement, one of the first under recent labor reforms, allows employees to accumulate extra hours worked during high-production periods to be used as time off during slower production cycles. The goal is to stabilize employment and prevent worker suspensions or income reductions during fluctuations in demand.

In Colombia, the government is preparing to declare an economic, social, and ecological emergency due to the impact of the El Niño phenomenon. Agriculture Minister Indalecio Dangond stated the proposal will be submitted to the Council of Ministers to facilitate rapid action. The emergency aims to provide financial relief to agricultural producers, potentially allowing banks to freeze certain debt payments for three to four months without negative credit reporting. Additionally, the Ministry of Agriculture is working to restructure debt for seven agricultural sectors, which hold a portfolio of approximately $55 trillion pesos.
