Renault and SMATA agree to hours bank system in Argentina

Renault and the SMATA union have reached an agreement to implement a “hours bank” system at the Santa Isabel plant in Córdoba, Argentina. The initiative, supported by the Ministry of Human Capital, aims to improve industrial competitiveness and sustain jobs for approximately 1,200 workers.

Under this new arrangement, facilitated by the Labor Modernization Law, additional hours worked during high-production periods will be accumulated as credit. These credits can then be used to compensate for periods of lower demand, allowing for rest days instead of traditional overtime pay or worker suspensions. This system is intended to help the plant compete more effectively in the Brazilian and European markets. The agreement comes amid a 400 million euro investment for the production of the new Renault Niagara pickup truck at the facility.
