Renault to invest over 10 billion euros in France for electric vehicles
Renault Group CEO François Provost has announced plans to invest more than 10 billion euros in France over the next five years. This investment aims to accelerate the development of electric vehicles and produce more affordable car models.
This follows a previous 13 billion euro investment in France over the last five years used to transform the company's industrial base for electric mobility. Provost noted that the new investment is contingent on a stable social and political environment in France, expressing concern over potential instability and rising public debt.
Renault expects its French production to grow by at least 25% in 2026, following a production volume of approximately 500,000 vehicles in 2025. The company is also addressing competition from Chinese imports, calling for European Union agreements that ensure foreign manufacturers utilize European suppliers and technology rather than engaging in trade wars.
