Renault Australia launches Symbioz SUV to replace Captur

Renault Australia has launched the Symbioz, a new small SUV that replaces the Captur in its local lineup. The decision comes as part of an 18-month model rollout for the French manufacturer in Australia.

Glen Sealey, General Manager of Renault Australia, explained that the Symbioz offers better positioning within the current brand range, which includes the Duster, Arkana, Megane E-Tech, and Scenic. The Symbioz is larger than the Captur, measuring 4412mm in length compared to the Captur's 4238mm, and provides nearly 100 litres of additional boot capacity.

While the Captur was expected to receive a substantial update in late 2025, that update did not materialize for the Australian market. Sealey noted that while the Captur is not permanently ruled out, the Symbioz is currently the more appropriate fit for the company's lineup and places Renault in closer competition with segment leaders like the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid.
