Renault introduces Niagara pickup for Latin American markets

Renault has introduced the Niagara, a new pickup truck specifically designed for the Latin American market. As the first model emerging from the company’s ‘futuREady’ plan, the Niagara is part of a broader strategy to launch 14 new models outside of Europe by 2030. This initiative aims to strengthen Renault’s international presence and accelerate electrification, with a goal of having 50% of non-European sales consist of electric or hybrid vehicles by 2030.

In Brazil, the arrival of the Niagara will lead to the discontinuation of the Renault Oroch. The Niagara, which will be produced in Santa Isabel, Argentina, is expected to enter the Brazilian market in November. The new model is described as larger and more sophisticated than its predecessor, featuring a 1.3 turbo engine with options for manual or dual-clutch automated transmissions, and 4x4 capability in certain versions. This transition marks a shift in the regional market, where pickup trucks are increasingly being used for personal rather than strictly professional purposes, driving demand for higher levels of comfort and technology.
