Renault unveils 120‑hp Eco‑G GPL engine for Clio and Symbioz

Renault has introduced the Eco‑G 120, a new 1.2‑litre three‑cylinder turbo engine that delivers 120 hp (90 kW) and 200 Nm of torque. The power output is 20 hp and 30 Nm higher than the previous Eco‑G 100, and the engine is offered in a bifuel gasoline‑GPL configuration.

The Eco‑G 120 powers the Clio, Captur and Symbioz models. In the Clio it is paired with a dual‑clutch automatic (EDC), a rare combination for GPL cars, while the Symbioz receives a six‑speed manual gearbox. Both models feature two separate fuel tanks – 50 L for GPL and 48–39 L for gasoline – giving total ranges of up to 1,450 km (Clio) and 1,500 km (Symbioz). Emissions are about 9 % lower than comparable gasoline engines, with CO₂ output of 105 g/km (Clio) to 116 g/km (Symbioz) and fuel consumption of roughly 6.5 L/100 km on GPL.

Renault positions the new GPL powertrain as a cost‑effective, low‑emission alternative for markets in Southern Europe and the Mediterranean, highlighting its versatility, reduced total cost of ownership and comparable performance to conventional gasoline versions.
