Renault launches 2026 Symbioz hybrid SUV in Australia starting under $37,000

Renault has introduced the 2026 Symbioz, its first full‑hybrid SUV for the Australian market, positioned as the successor to the Captur. The model is offered in three grades: a mild‑hybrid priced at $36,990 before on‑road costs and two full‑hybrid variants priced between $42,990 and $45,990.

The mild‑hybrid uses a 1.3‑litre turbocharged four‑cylinder engine paired with a small electric motor, while the full‑hybrid combines a 1.8‑litre engine with a 36 kW electric motor and a 1.4 kWh battery, delivering a claimed 0‑100 km/h time of 9.1 seconds and fuel consumption of 4.7 L/100 km. The SUV measures 4412 mm in length, 1797 mm in width and 1567 mm in height, offering up to 563 L of boot space.

Standard equipment includes LED headlights, an 18‑inch alloy wheel set, a 10.25‑inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, adaptive cruise control, lane‑keep assist and a suite of airbags. Higher trims add 19‑inch wheels, Alpine badging, heated power‑adjustable seats and a Harman Kardon sound system. The Symbioz is priced competitively against rivals such as the Hyundai Kona Hybrid ($36,950) and Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid ($37,440), and undercuts models like the Nissan Qashqai e‑Power and Mitsubishi ASX.
