Renault launches Boreal model from Bursa, expanding Turkey's auto exports

Turkey's Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır attended the Renault Boreal launch ceremony at the Oyak Renault plant in Bursa. He said the event shows Turkey’s growing role as a global industrial hub amid shifting supply‑chain dynamics and a move toward domestic production and friendly‑nation sourcing.

Kacır highlighted the automotive sector’s rapid growth: annual vehicle output has risen from 357,000 to 1.5 million units, and last year the industry recorded US$41.5 billion in exports. The government’s green and digital transformation programmes, together with the HIT‑30 high‑technology investment fund, are supporting electric‑vehicle projects and battery development. Turkey’s charging network has expanded eight‑fold in three years to 44,400 points.

Renault has operated in Turkey for 55 years, and the new Boreal model will be exported to more than 30 countries. The Bursa plant now produces up to 390,000 vehicles a year and employs over 5,000 workers, underscoring its importance in Turkey’s high‑value‑added manufacturing strategy.
