Renault unveils Niagara pickup for Latin American markets

Renault has officially unveiled the Niagara, a new compact pickup truck designed specifically for the Latin American market. Built on the RGMP modular platform, the vehicle aims to bridge the gap between a rugged utility vehicle and a comfortable SUV.

Production will take place at the Santa Isabel plant in Córdoba, Argentina, with primary sales targeted at Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia. The Niagara is the first model under Renault’s ‘futuREady’ strategic plan, which aims to launch 14 new models outside of Europe by 2030 to reduce dependence on the European market.

The vehicle features a 1.3-liter turbo engine producing between 156 and 160 hp, with options for both 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrains. Technology is a central focus, featuring the OpenR Link infotainment system integrated with Google Gemini AI, allowing for conversational voice commands. The pickup is expected to compete with established models such as the Fiat Toro, Ford Maverick, and Chevrolet Montana.
