Renault outlines strategy for electric vehicles and new models

Renault CEO Fabrice Cambolive has outlined the company’s strategic vision for its future vehicle lineup, emphasizing a balance between iconic retro-inspired models and entirely new designs. The manufacturer aims to maintain a portfolio composed of one-third iconic cars, such as the Renault 5 and Twingo, one-third established models like the Clio and Scenic, and one-third purely new models to ensure the brand does not rely solely on its past.

Regarding specific models, Renault is working on updates for the Renault 5, which may include more powerful motors and larger batteries. The company is also evaluating the future of the Clio, specifically looking at what will succeed the current generation in the B-hatchback segment. Cambolive noted that while retro designs have been successful, any future models must serve a modern purpose to avoid failure. The company’s long-term goal includes a significant push toward electrification, with an aim to be 100% electrified by 2030.
