Renault reaches 1 million electric vehicles produced in France

Renault Group announced that its French factories have produced more than one million electric cars since 2010. The milestone includes 600,000 units from the northern France "Electricity" hub centred on Douai and Maubeuge, with other models built at Dieppe, Batilly and Sandouville. Since 2021 the group has invested €13 billion to transform its plants and create a full electric‑vehicle value chain, and plans a further €13 billion if conditions allow.

The output covers a range of models – from early ZOE and Kangoo Z‑E. to the latest Renault 5 E‑Tech, Renault 4 E‑Tech and upcoming Trafic E‑Tech, the first European professional SDV vehicle. The ramp‑up has generated roughly 700 permanent jobs between 2022‑2025, with another 300 planned and 550 temporary workers hired at Douai to support a new half‑night shift.

Renault also reported a broader European surge: EV sales rose 20.9 % in Q1 2026, reaching 17 % of group sales, and UK registrations doubled to 19,120 units, representing 29 % of the brand’s passenger‑car sales.
