Renault to invest 600 million euros in Spanish manufacturing

Renault Group has announced a 600 million euro investment in Spain to be implemented between 2026 and 2030 as part of its 'futuREady' strategic plan. This investment, which combines corporate funds with national and regional public aid, aims to transform the company's industrial and engineering centers to support electrification and technological innovation.

The plan involves the production of five new vehicle models at the Valladolid and Palencia plants in Castilla y León, including two fully electric models. This marks a historic milestone, as it will be the first time Renault produces purely electric vehicles in Spain during its 75-year presence in the country. The Palencia plant will utilize the new RGEV Medium 2.0 platform, capable of providing up to 750 km of range (WLTP) and featuring 800-volt technology for fast charging.

In Valladolid, the company will establish a new assembly line for electric vehicle batteries. Christian Stein, CEO of Renault Group Spain, emphasized that Spain is a strategic hub for the group due to its robust ecosystem of component, energy, and mobility suppliers. The investment follows a recent labor agreement and aims to bolster the competitiveness of Spanish manufacturing amidst a challenging European automotive market characterized by intense competition and fluctuating demand.
