Renault unveils electric 8 Gordini Concept inspired by 1964 rally icon
Renault Group has unveiled the Renault 8 Gordini Concept, an electric two-seater coupe designed to honor the legacy of the original 1964 rear-engined rally icon. The concept features a retro-futuristic design inspired by the ‘café racer’ aesthetic, utilizing a carbon fiber body and maintaining the classic blue paint with white racing stripes.
Mechanically, the concept transitions from the original's 95 hp combustion engine to a 270 hp electric motor driving the rear wheels. The vehicle's dimensions are 4.12 meters long, 1.88 meters wide, and 1.27 meters high, featuring staggered 19-inch front and 20-inch rear alloy wheels. The interior emphasizes a minimalist, driver-focused approach with brushed aluminum accents, circular digital displays, and Alcantara trim.
While the 8 Gordini Concept is a design exercise and not currently slated for mass production, Renault intends for its design language to influence future models. The concept is scheduled for public exhibition at the Paris Motor Show between October 12 and 18, 2026, and will eventually join the Renault Collections museum in Flins.
