Overview

Renault has unveiled the Renault 8 Gordini Concept, an all-electric, two-seater coupé that reimagines the brand’s 1964 rally icon. Developed in-house by Renault Design, the concept transitions the original four-door sedan into a low-slung, wide-bodied performance vehicle with a “café racer” aesthetic.

The vehicle features a carbon-fiber body, a rear-mounted electric motor producing approximately 270 horsepower, and a rear-wheel-drive architecture. The design includes a signature Bleu de France paint scheme, six circular 3D LED headlights, and a minimalist interior utilizing brushed aluminum and Alcantara.

Following its debut at the Renault Carwalk event and the Paris Motor Show, brand director Fabrice Cambolive has indicated that the company is exploring the possibility of production. While not yet confirmed, Renault remains open to the project as a way to demonstrate that electric vehicles can offer “emotional appeal, sportiness, and driving pleasure” rather than serving as merely utilitarian transport.

Any potential production of the 8 Gordini remains contingent on the company prioritizing the delivery of the limited-edition Renault 5 Turbo 3E, which is expected to reach customers in early 2028. The 8 Gordini concept is eventually scheduled to join the brand’s heritage collection at the future Renault Collections museum in Flins.
