Renault unveils electric 8 Gordini Concept coupé
Renault has unveiled the Renault 8 Gordini Concept, an all-electric, two-seater coupé that reimagines the legendary 1964 rally icon. Developed entirely in-house following an internal design competition of over 300 sketches, the concept transitions the original four-door sedan into a low-slung, wide-bodied performance vehicle with a café racer aesthetic.
The concept features a rear-mounted electric motor producing approximately 270 horsepower, maintaining the rear-wheel-drive architecture of its predecessor. Its design includes a carbon-fiber body, a signature Bleu de France paint scheme with white stripes, and six circular 3D headlights. The compact dimensions are 4.12 meters long, 1.88 meters wide, and 1.27 meters tall, utilizing staggered 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels.
While Renault has indicated this is a one-off design exercise rather than a production model, the vehicle serves as a technical and stylistic laboratory. It is part of a broader strategy to celebrate the brand's heritage, with the concept slated for display at the Paris Motor Show in October 2026 before eventually being housed in the future Renault Collections museum in Flins.
