Renewable energy and ecological restoration projects advance in Bosnia and Serbia

Nova Alumina is nearing the completion of a 19 MWp solar power project in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The initiative, which is being implemented in multiple phases, includes 6.5 MWp of capacity installed on facility rooftops and 12.5 MWp on land within the company complex. Recent progress includes the installation of solar panels for a 2 MWp phase and the mounting of two transformer stations to ensure reliable integration into the company's internal energy system. The project is expected to be fully completed by October 15.

In Serbia, the Tara National Park is seeing early success with a project to restore a 10,000-year-old peat bog using fog catchers. Supported by the European Union and Sweden through the ‘EU for the Green Agenda in Serbia’ program, the project utilizes fog-collecting structures to provide water to sensitive ecosystems. At the Crveni Potok site, these systems have already helped restore peat moss. Officials noted that the project aims to increase climate resilience and may eventually expand to restore up to 80 hectares of peatland.
