India solar sector expands with new tenders and manufacturing plans

SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) has issued tenders for the development of up to 1,000 MW AC of grid-connected solar PV projects located in Punjab and Rajasthan. The engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) package includes land procurement and five years of operation and maintenance. The project is divided into four 250 MW AC units, with specific provisions for module procurement: contractors will provide all materials for 100 MW AC portions, while SGEL will provide modules for the remaining 150 MW AC portions. A power purchase agreement is already in place with Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL).

In a separate development, Saatvik Solar Industries Private Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Odisha to establish a 3.6 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Gopalpur, Ganjam district. This facility aims to expand India’s renewable energy manufacturing ecosystem. The company is also progressing with its Phase I integrated manufacturing facility at the same location, which has reached key milestones in infrastructure and equipment installation.
