Renewable energy firms expand Australian presence through acquisitions
The Australian renewable energy sector is seeing significant activity through strategic acquisitions. AESG, a global engineering and consultancy firm, has acquired The Energy Project (TEP), a specialist Australian energy consultancy. This move expands AESG’s renewable energy capabilities, particularly in distributed energy, solar, battery storage, and microgrids. Alongside the acquisition, Andrew Mather has been appointed as fractional managing director to lead AESG’s Australian operations.
Separately, Atmos Renewables has acquired a portfolio of wind and solar projects from European developer BayWa r.e. The deal includes the operating Yatpool and Hughenden solar farms, as well as the Bullawah wind and battery project. This acquisition increases Atmos Renewables’ operational portfolio to 19 assets, bringing its operating and in-construction capacity to over 2GW, positioning the company as one of Australia’s larger renewable energy owner-operators.
