Renewable energy firms expand solar and battery storage capacity in India

India's renewable energy sector is seeing significant expansion in solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) capabilities. Waaree Renewable Technologies has secured a Letter of Award for an EPC project involving 291 MWp of ground-mounted solar capacity and a 280 MWh BESS. The project, ordered by an Indian thermal power generator, is expected to be completed by FY28.

Separately, ACME Solar Holdings Limited, through its subsidiary ACME Suryodaya Private Limited, has commissioned a 15 MW/240.752 MWh BESS project in the Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan. This commissioning brings the subsidiary's total commissioned capacity to 300 MW/1,354.224 MWh, strengthening the company's footprint in India's energy storage infrastructure.
