Renewable energy industry protests in Berlin over planned reforms
Renewable energy companies and industry associations held a demonstration in Berlin's government district under the slogan “Renewable Energies: Expand Instead of Slowing Down.” The protest, organized by the Federal Association of Renewable Energy (BEE), aimed to demand stable political frameworks and reliable conditions for the energy transition.
Participants, estimated by police at 6,000 and organizers at 8,000, expressed concerns regarding planned changes to the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) and adjustments to power grid expansion. Industry leaders warned that these reform drafts could undermine investment schedules and the technical integration of wind and solar power into the system.
BEE Managing Director Christine Falken-Großer emphasized that the energy transition is a reality driven by active corporate investment, while BEE President Ursula Heinen-Esser called for corrections to the proposed reforms to ensure the industry can continue to grow effectively.
