Renewable energy projects advance in Queensland and Victoria

Major renewable energy developments are progressing across Australia. In Queensland, Edify Energy has reached financial close on the Ganymirra and Majors Creek solar and battery hybrid projects near Townsville. These projects will provide 360MWp of solar generation and 300MW/1,200MWh of battery storage, aiming to power over 100,000 homes once operational in 2028. The development is supported by a $3.2 billion financing package involving 14 domestic and international lenders and is part of the Australian Government’s Capacity Investment Scheme.

In Victoria, ENGIE ANZ has commissioned the 250-megawatt Goorambat East solar farm near Benalla. The project is supported by a 10-year power purchase agreement with Microsoft, as part of the technology company’s broader investment in Australian data centres and cybersecurity. The commissioning follows recent renewable energy agreements by Microsoft, including the Rye Park wind farm and Carwarp Energy Park.
