Renfe suspends Almería-Madrid Intercity service for infrastructure works

Renfe has announced the suspension of the Intercity Almería-Madrid train service starting September 6 due to infrastructure works required for the adaptation of the railway highway in the Despeñaperros area.

To maintain mobility, Renfe will provide two daily alternative bus services between Almería and Linares Baeza. Additionally, for the Madrid-Jaén route, a road service will be established between Jaén and Almuradiel to minimize the impact of the construction. The Alvia services on the Almería-Granada-Madrid route will continue to operate normally without modifications.

Local concerns have been raised regarding the efficiency of the bus replacement, with some users suggesting that maintaining rail service between Almería and Linares Baeza, while using buses only for the connection to Almuradiel, would better serve passengers traveling from intermediate stations like Jódar, Cabra del Santo Cristo, and Moreda.
