Reniec launches free electronic DNI campaign across 18 Peruvian regions

The National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec) is conducting a nationwide campaign to provide free electronic National Identity Documents (DNI) across 18 regions of Peru. Part of the ‘Plan Nacional de Identidad para Todos 2026-2028’, the initiative runs through October 4, 2026.

The campaign targets vulnerable populations, including senior citizens (65 and older), persons with disabilities, children and adolescents in orphanhood, and individuals with medical emergencies. In addition to issuing new documents, Reniec is facilitating the delivery of previously processed DNIs at various public locations such as municipal offices, community centers, and stadiums.

In Lima, the campaign covers multiple districts including Ancón, Carabayllo, Chorrillos, Comas, Independencia, Los Olivos, Miraflores, and San Juan de Luriganco, among others. In Nuevo Chimbote, specific services are scheduled for September 29 and 30 at the local cultural center.

Regarding the upcoming 2026 Regional and Municipal Elections, Reniec noted that citizens may vote using expired versions of the DNI (yellow, blue, or electronic versions 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0) specifically for that electoral process.
