Reniec warns against unauthorized DNI procedures and announces mobile campaigns
The National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec) has issued a warning advising citizens to avoid conducting identity-related procedures through unauthorized intermediaries to prevent identity theft and fraud. The agency emphasizes that all services, including National Identity Document (DNI) transactions and civil registry services, should only be performed through official virtual platforms or at authorized physical offices and agencies.
Reniec maintains a presence across all 24 departments of Peru and in Callao, including auxiliary registry offices in hospitals. International services are also available through consular offices in countries such as the United States, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Chile, Venezuela, Paraguay, Bolivia, and Italy.
Additionally, Reniec is conducting mobile campaigns in collaboration with various municipalities to provide free electronic DNI (DNIe) distribution. Scheduled activities include mobile service dates in various populated centers and native communities in regions such as Cusco and VRAEM between June 18 and June 24, 2024. These campaigns facilitate DNI duplication for minors and adults, photo updates, and the delivery of documents from previous campaigns.
