Renovation work closes streets and garage in Haarlem and Leiden
The Prins Bernhardlaan in Haarlem will be closed to motor traffic from 20 July to 20 August 2026. Vehicles are diverted via Schipholweg, Schalkwijkerstraat, Lange Herenvest and the Amsterdamsevaart, while bus lines 80, 680 and N80 will not run on the street during the period. Cyclists and pedestrians can still use designated paths, and several pedestrian crossings remain open.
In Leiden, the reopening of the Haarlemmerstraat garage has been postponed after the newly applied finishing layer on the first through fifth floors was found to be insufficiently bonded to the concrete slab. The loose sections are being removed and further investigations are underway, delaying the planned 3 August reopening. The municipality acknowledges the impact on residents, businesses and garage users while working with the contractor to resolve the problem.
