Republic of Cyprus invited to COP31 summit in Turkey
The Republic of Cyprus has reportedly received an invitation to attend the COP31 United Nations Climate Change Conference, which is scheduled to be hosted by Turkey in Antalya from November 9 to 20, 2026.
According to reports, the invitation follows diplomatic efforts coordinated with European Union institutions and member states. Cypriot government spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis confirmed the invitation, noting that the process involved coordination with the EU to ensure participation after initial reports suggested the Republic might be excluded from the leaders' summit.
In a separate development regarding the Cyprus issue, the Cypriot government expressed hope for a constructive meeting between leaders. Letymbiotis stated that while progress is desired, any advancement between leaders must account for Turkey's stance on a two-state solution.
