Republic of the Congo advances sustainable tourism and infrastructure

Efforts to promote economic diversification and sustainable development are underway in the Republic of the Congo through new tourism initiatives and infrastructure financing.

The Cercle des élites en voyage, tourisme et environnement (CEVTE), an international non-governmental organization founded in the United States, has established a representative office in Pointe-Noire and the Kouilou department. The organization aims to promote sustainable tourism and ecotourism while protecting local ecosystems and identifying potential tourist sites to boost the national economy.

Simultaneously, the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) is financing various infrastructure projects between Pointe-Noire and Brazzaville. These projects focus on improving mobility and access to essential services while adhering to climate commitments. The AFD emphasizes reducing environmental impacts and greenhouse gas emissions, ensuring that transport infrastructure aligns with the Paris Agreement through measures such as CO2 emission monitoring and environmental compensation.
