Republic of the Congo seeks U.S. mining investment

The Republic of the Congo is actively working to attract American mining companies to its subsoil resources. During a meeting on September 2 in Brazzaville, the Minister of Mining Industries and Geology, Urbain Fiacre Opo, met with Amanda Jacobsen, the chargé d’affaires of the United States embassy.

The discussions focused on technical arrangements and the necessary conditions to encourage American firms to commit capital to Congolese mining projects. Jacobsen noted that while interest from U.S. companies is high, some firms are currently encountering difficulties in executing their projects on the ground. The meeting aimed to find appropriate solutions to these obstacles and foster a more favorable business environment for bilateral economic opportunities.
